and to my pleasant surprise, I was able to find a copy in my collection.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, my copy has some condition issues that proved to be a bit time-consuming for my software to clean up.\u00a0 But that&#8217;s the way it goes with vintage records &#8211; you might or might not eventually come across another copy in better condition.\u00a0 I was happy to discover I even had a copy at all, despite its condition.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My Old Love&#8221; (&#8220;<em>Mi viejo Amor<\/em>&#8220;) was written by the prominent Mexican composer Alfonso Esparza Oteo.\u00a0 You can read more about him at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sacm.org.mx\/Informa\/Biografia\/08001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this link (in Spanish)<\/a> or in English <a href=\"https:\/\/www-sacm-org-mx.translate.goog\/Informa\/Biografia\/08001?_x_tr_sl=auto&amp;_x_tr_tl=en&amp;_x_tr_hl=en-US&amp;_x_tr_pto=wapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at this link via Google Translate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Born in what is now Odesa, Ukraine, <a href=\"https:\/\/maestrostudio.net\/dolin\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Max Dolin<\/a> was an accomplished violinist and prominent conductor in San Francisco.\u00a0 He is best remembered as the West Coast music director for the NBC radio network.<\/p>\n<p>Victor&#8217;s recording ledgers indicate that the conductor for this New York City recording session was their in-house conductor, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nathaniel_Shilkret\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nathaniel Shilkret<\/a>, not Max Dolin.\u00a0 There is no mention of whether Dolin himself was present or whether the musicians were members of Dolin&#8217;s orchestra or in-house studio musicians.\u00a0 At the time, it was not uncommon for in-house staff to fill in for conductors or even entire bands who, for various reasons, might not have been able to attend a recording session.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
